Project Description

New craftsman porch, kitchen and mudroom addition

A beautiful Arts & Crafts home, originally constructed in the early part of the 1900’s as a vacation home for the American Standard family.   The design challenge for this home was the entry!  The original home faced the road, but without a front door.   Instead visitors drive around to the back of the home to enter.  As part of a new kitchen / mudroom addition, we designed an entry porch located by the parking area.  We were able to reuse original brackets for the new porch.

On the interior, we created details in keeping with the age and character of  the home, such as beams on the kitchen ceiling and beadboard in the mudroom.

Over several years, we worked with the homeowners to select exterior colors, add a new kitchen / mudroom / porch, renovate five bathrooms, structural repairs to the roof.
